Fruit Tart with Orange Almond Crust
Ingredients
- 1-7 oz box Odense Almond Paste (grated using large hole side of a box grater)
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, softened
- Grated peel of large navel orange
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1-8 oz package cream cheese, room temperature
- Fruits of choice
- 1/2 cup apple jelly

Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or spray a pizza pan.
- Add Almond Paste (grated using large hole side of a box grater), 1/2 cup of sugar, butter and orange peel to mixing bowl. Beat until well combined. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy.
- Sift flour with baking powder and salt. Add to mixing bowl. Beat until dough is combined. Scrape dough out of bowl onto a floured counter and shape into a ball. Flatten to a 6" disk and transfer to pizza pan.
- Roll out dough, with a floured rolling pin, to an 11" circle. Bake for 15 minutes or until top is golden brown. Cool pan on wire rack.
- Meanwhile, add cream cheese and remaining 1/2 cup sugar to mixing bowl. Beat until very creamy.
- When crust is cool, frost with cream cheese mixture. Arrange fruit in circles around outside edge, working towards center.
- Melt jelly in small saucepan and lightly brush onto fruit. Refrigerate one hour before cutting.
