Crustless Apple Pie with Almond Topping

Ingredients

  1. 10 tablespoons butter
  2. 1-7 oz box Odense Almond Paste (grated using large hole side of a box grater)
  3. 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  4. 2 1/2 lbs Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thickly sliced
  5. 1 cup all-purpose flour
  6. 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  7. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  8. 1 large egg
Grated Odense Almond Paste makes a sweet almond topping to cover tart Granny Smith Apples. It’s super easy to make, with no bottom crust and a topping that’s spooned on.

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9 inch pie plate.
  2. Melt butter with Almond Paste (grated using large hole side of a box grater). Stir continuously on medium heat until incorporated. Set aside to cool.
  3. Toss apples with 1 tablespoon of sugar and pour into pie plate.
  4. Whisk remaining 3/4 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt until mixed.
  5. Beat egg into almond mixture and add to flour mixture. Mix into a smooth paste. Drop dollops of batter on top of apples until covered.
  6. Bake 40-45 minutes or until apples are soft and topping is golden brown.
